Interestings things to do in Santa Clara
You hear about “El Che Guevara”, don’t you? In Santa Clara we could find out a lot about this Argentinean men that help in the revolution process.
-Mausoleo del Che (Che Mausoleum): Built in the 80’s, remember the important victory of the argentinian in Santa Clara. The remains of Guevara were found in 1997 (In Bolivia) and returned to Cuba. Actually, they are in the mausoleum.
-Tren Acorazado (Battleship Train): So? You are a big fan of the “Che”, you have to visit the Tren Acorazado, also called Tren Blindado. This train was part of a Batista weapons cargo, the revolutionaries broke the pathways and stop the Batista army’s resistance.
-Boulevard 1898: Pedestrian surrounded by stores, the prices here are lowest because it’s less touristic than other cities. Spend money here!
Again, don’t buy “special” rum at low costs in the street
– La Glorieta: Huge place that offer concerts and theatre performances. Here you can see the statue of Marta Abreu, great benefactor of the city.
There aren’t a lot of places to dance or to get party, Santa Clara is the best place to take a walk and know the Cuban persons and her culture.
Sancti Spiritus
Here, you can stay at Santa Elena hostel. Cleans rooms with you own bath, air conditioner. You have to try the “batidos de mango” or the “batidos de papaya”. Also, you can’t loose the “guiso” of Elito, a gods meal. Located at Santa Elena St. 42. The cost is between 18 and 25 CUC.
Places to visit
-Hacienda Manaca Iznaga: Here worked more than 350 eslaves in the colonial period. You can see the big house, the barracks and a big belfry.
-Caballete de Casa: Located at the mountains of Escambray, this was the place were Ernesto “Che” Gueva establish her barracks. 20 years ago it was declared National Monument
-River Yayabo bridge: One of the ancient bridges of cuba, constructed with brick, lime and sand of the area, without using cement. Beautiful construction.
-Restos Trocha Júcaro a Morón: In the wars of 1868 and 1895, for the Spanish, Trocha was impregnable and impassable barrier and upon completion, this facility would be the most perfect and sophisticated military that had the Spanish colonialism in America. A piece of colonial and revolutionary history that you can’t miss!

Sancti Spitirus is a little place, so the option is again… “Paladares” or Elitos food. Ask Elito where you can eat cheap, he give the best advices!
