Cienfuegos

So, we are in Cienfuegos now, Camilo Cienfuegos (revolutionary hero that disappeared in a mysterious plane accident) gives the name to the city. What are we going to do know?
First of all get a place to sleep! The modality is the same that in La Habana, but in Cienfuegos we have less controls, so getting a place to sleep should be easier. Anyway, official “Casas Particulares” continue being an option, at http://www.casecuba.com
We will found the cheaper and best options to reserve! You don’t like the official option? Ask the people of Cuba, don’t be rude, kindly ask in any store if they know a family that rent a room, the price should be between 15 and 20 CUC. So, we have solved the problem of the stay for the rest of the trip! You have to relax and take a breath if you want to get a cheap place to stay; there isn’t official information about these places! But we have a secret tip! It’s Doña Teresa, and she will help us to get a cheap place to stay. Doña Teresa lives at 52 avenue 4310, between 43 St. and 45 St. If she hasn’t go place for you, don’t bother she wouldn’t let you go until she found you a place to stay!
Remember that the cost is per night, not per person. If you meet some people to share the room, the price will be the half (this applied for all the “casas particulares”)

Interest places to visit in Cienfuegos
-Plaza José Marti (José Marti Park): One of the most beautiful parks of all Cuba. José Marti, Cubans liberator, gives the name it bears.
-Near the place is full of “Bares” (little pubs) get yourself a “Cuba Libre” (rum with coke), the traditional drink of Cuba. If you don’t get a Cuba Libre you can’t tell that you really visited Cuba!
-El Malecón: We have another Malecón in Cienfuegos and I we can say that is better than the one of the Habana, don’t miss it!
Punta Gorda: This is the place were culture and tourism stick together. Punta Gorda is a neighbourhood of Cienfuegos. People there are really kindly and funny. Walk around and take a lot of photos, if you found a bar you can get another “Cuba Libre”…
– “Castillo de Jagua” (Jagua Fortress): Constructed in 1745 to protect the bay of Cienfuegos from the pirates of the Caribbean. Amazing view and beautiful constructions
-Cementerio Viejo (Ancient Cemetery): Incredible cemetery with a lot of sculptures inside. The “Bella Durmiente” (Sleeping Beauty) is the most famous attraction of the cemetery; if you don’t visit it, the excursion wouldn’t be complete.
Well, Cienfuegos is a lovely place, but there isn’t a lot to see, so let’s get moving!
We can take a “guaga” (kind of buses) in order to travel to Trinidad, ask Doña Teresa or to another native where you can acquire a bus ticket, bought it with advanced!
